Car insurance glossary

What is declarations page?

A declarations page is the policy summary that lists major details such as drivers, vehicles, coverages, limits, deductibles, dates, and premium.

Also called: insurance dec page

Glossary date: March 9, 2026

How it works

It is a useful snapshot, but it is not the entire contract. Policy forms and endorsements contain definitions, duties, conditions, and exclusions.

Example

You check the declarations page to confirm that a new car appears with collision coverage and a $500 deductible.

Why it matters

An incorrect driver, vehicle, address, or coverage selection can cause problems when you need the policy.

What to check on your policy

Review every declarations page at purchase and renewal. Contact the insurer quickly if any detail is wrong.

Put the terms into context

Read the full guide, find a nearby GoAuto office, or start a quote with the coverage details you want to discuss.
