# What is at-fault accident?

> An at-fault accident is a crash in which a driver is found fully or partly responsible under the applicable rules.

## How it works

Insurers may review police reports, statements, photos, traffic laws, and other evidence. More than one driver can share fault.

## Example

A driver follows too closely and hits a stopped car. The evidence may lead the insurers to assign that driver most or all of the fault.
